History
where neighbors know neighbors
callahan
association leadersMay 1978 - The association was incorporated as the Callahan Neighborhood Association, Inc. (CNA). CNA Inc. was the City of Orlando’ first grassroots voluntary residential association. CNA’s goal is to preserve the residential character of the neighborhood. CNA’s maintains the following objectives:
-
-
- Get more residents involved in directly influencing public policy;
- Stabilize the Callahan neighborhood by promoting the improvement of existing housing, and construction of new affordable house;
- Change from negative to positive the impact of the political, social, and economic forces that impinge upon the neighborhood due to intensive downtown development;
- Influence the allocation of municipal resources and design of public programs to ensure that Callahan residents benefit to the maximum extent possible
- Organized activities for children. The Callahan Neighborhood Association has faced many struggles, challenges, and adversities. As we grow and march boldly into the next century, we will continue to be involved while improving and preserving the Callahan community. Our community is rich with heritage and tradition: “WHERE NEIGHBORS KNOW NEIGHBORS”
